Certain everyday objects can never lose their charms. A tiffin-carrier is perhaps one of them.

Inspired by Rajnish’s grandma’s brass tiffin-carrier, a daily essential object which still claims a part in most Indian households, this Hedao piece enlarges the longing for comfort while at the same time sooths the onlooker with a brilliance of shared heritage laced with modern touch.

Grandma used to store spices in her brass tiffin-carrier, and perhaps the scent of those treasured spices stayed with Rajnish for forty-some years, until this art installation was fashioned in its honour and painted with a Crane to embellish it further. Crane symbolizes happiness and eternal youth, and here it is doing just that, carrying memories of Tiffin-Hours, from distant pasts and maybe even today’s afternoon.

Three sets of doors reveal three separate compartments.

Even more versatile than your old Tiffin Carrier.

While the inspiration behind this piece was the veritable brass tiffin carrier of yesteryears, the stacked design, complete with wooden side handles and lid make this into more than a utility cabinet.

Also available in a striking deep blue colorway.
